Senior Director, Product Experience

Ever since his dad brought home an Apple IIGS when Justin was seven, he was hooked and knew he wanted to work with technology.
With a focus on solving interaction and operational challenges for new and disruptive product development, his recent work includes leading the design and implementation of an AI-driven life sciences lab pilot for Quest Diagnostics, envisioning the future of stored energy for EnerSys and creating conversational, content-driven AI experiences for Nickelodeon.
- Where do you find your inspiration / source of creativity?
I’m a big believer in looking outside your bubble for inspiration; how bee colonies function, the legal, engineering, and cultural story behind the exploding Ford Pinto, the physics and chemistry behind the challenges of progressing battery technology.
- Do you have a mantra or a favorite quote?
“Culture is what you do.”(Big h/t to Shawn Blanc for this.)
- When did you decide you wanted to be in this business? 为什么?
Being in technology was always going to happen. I was building company-wide networks (literally crimping my own Ethernet cables) when I was 14, hustling random freelance tech and design work when I was 16 and started salaried work in tech at 19.
- What's changed the most about the industry / the work / the clients?
The things people take for granted. When I was young, loading a web page on a feature phone was an expensive, janky, and entirely text-based task, but the potential for it was massive once technology and services actually caught up to the idea. Today, accessing the internet on the go is barely thought about as a thing—it’s just there, in your pocket, and you only really appreciate its magnitude when it stops working. I can’t even imagine what we’ll take for granted tomorrow but I’m excited to find out.
- Do you have any inventions rolling around in your head?
Oh goodness yes. To name a few; a home printer that is the size of a ream of letter paper and can fit on its side subtly into a bookcase, and a simplified microwave with only one button (I'll let everyone contemplate which button it would be).
